The homage to the painting by Francis Bacon (1909-1992) is an extremely successful attempt to allow for the pictorial deformations typical of the English artist to be tangible in three-dimensional pieces. In this case, Voltolina's perspective research takes inspiration from Bacon's organic and convulsive forms, to generate a dynamic volume that could induce the same attractive force as the paintings’ inspired.
The Glass sculpture is manufactured by Glass Master Mario Furlan.
Born in Valona in 1942, Luigi Voltolina arrived in Venice at the age of two, with the repatriation of his family. After graduating in Graphic Arts at the Venice Art Institute, he worked for a brief time at the Toso Brothers Glass Factories in Murano.
Within the factories, he encounters the Murano world for the first time, as well as the prime substance that is handled on the Island: Glass.
